or AMD K6-2 300 MHz
32 MB RAM
8 MB graphics card
DirectX 8

Athlon 800 MHz

32MB graphics card
DirectX 8
CD-ROM drive
2. DirectX
This game has been optimized for Microsoft's DirectX 8 (included on this CD-Rom). In order to play the game you need fully DirectX 8 compatible drivers for your graphics card and sound card. Please note: You should be able to install DirectX 8 directly from the CD Start Menu; however the drivers for your graphics card and sound card will not be automatically updated to full DirectX-8 compatibility.
If you have any problems, please download the latest DirectX 8 drivers from the manufacturer of your graphics card and sound card or contact your computer dealer.
3. Getting started
When you launch the game for the first time, you will be asked whether you would prefer to play with simplified or with normal controls. The simplified controls restrict you a little when you are maneuvering but are easier to handle if you are an inexperienced player. Experienced players should not activate the simplified control option, otherwise advanced maneuvers with vehicles and aircraft will not be possible.
If you answer the query with "Yes", the controls are set as follows:
Aircraft - Elevator on
Aircraft - Horizontal position on
Vehicle û Center guns on
The settings may be changed at any time in the control options menu (See also under section 4).
4. Control Options
The menu "Settings" -> "Controls" offers the following options:
Autom. target camera
Determines whether an extra window is opened showing the adversary during enemy contact with heavy units.
Free torso view
Here you can set whether the camera turns with your vehicle in the exterior view mode or is linked to the direction of the targeting device.
Aircraft - Elevator
If this option is activated, your aircraft maintains the same distance from the ground at all times. This helps to avoid collisions with mountains but for certain maneuvers like hiding behind hilltops it can be a hindrance.
Aircraft - Horizontal position
If this option is activated, your aircraft always returns automatically to a stabile horizontal position. Not all complex flight maneuvers are possible in this mode.
Vehicle û Center guns
When using with a ground vehicle, the torso or the weapon always faces forward. This helps you to keep your bearings, especially if you are not too familiar with the controls; however it prevents you firing in a different direction while you are moving.
Mouse up/down - torso
Use this option to invert the Y-axis of the mouse for the vertical control of a vehicle's torso or weapon.
Mouse up/down - flying
Use this option to invert the Y-axis of the mouse for the vertical control of an aircraft.
Sensitivity
This option determines the level of sensitivity of the mouse.
5. Troubleshooting
Problem: A window appears displaying the following error message: "The DirectX Core reports: Error(dxgl_initD3D): Zbuffer depth 24 not supported on this system"
Solution: The graphics card does not support this mode. Simply restart the game.
Problem: Gameplay is sluggish.
Solution: You can try the following methods to improve system performance. They are listed in the order of their effectiveness (the most drastic measures are at the end):
1) In the menu "Controls": Turn off "Automatic target camera".
2) In the menu "Graphics": Switch "Water reflections" to "Never".
3) In the menu "Graphics": Switch "Landscape detail level" to "Low" or "Minimum"
4) In the menu "Graphics": Switch "Weather effects", "Shadows and tracks" or "Dynamic lighting" off.
5) In the menu "Graphics": Reduce the range of visibility
6) In the menu "Graphics": Set the "Texture color depth" to "16 bpp"
7) In the menu "Graphics": If your graphics card has less than 16MB RAM: Reduce the Texture detail to "Low" or "Minimum"
8) In the menu "Graphics": Reduce the screen resolution and color depth.
